I would have to say that this is one of those photos.
I have to say that this is a relatively simple photo, but also a strangely facinating one.
As far as I can tell, this photo is using every little speck of the 1/3 rule to draw the attention to it. Simply put and with my own words: A very well composed and thought through photo.
Back when I was new to photography someone once told me that simply using the intersecting lines in the thirds of the photo should be enough to make the photo convincing. I still believe in this rule, but what I see with this photo is the use of a more advanced version of that rule. I can't recall all the details right now but it incorporates the features of the photo creating an (illusional) spiral.
In combination with the use of this rule you have also managed to create a path for the viewer to follow into the photo... far into the photo and thus also right into the sunset and the source for the excellent warm tone that has thrown it's glare over the entire photo.
Needless to say, but out over these facts that I point out, this is a very soothing quiet photo.
I would even go as far as to claim this would be a photo I could decorate my own livingroom walls with.
